Focus projects receive exactly the same amount of time and effort as every other web project we do - lots!

This was a very rewarding project to work on. It wasn't that the old site did a bad job, rather that it could have done so much more! The aim was to redesign and build the web site incorporating the following elements:

build a truly multi-lingual site
incorporate a Content Management System (CMS) in order to let the owners update the site remotely
include an availability calendar
incorporate a spam blocking contact form
facilitate online payments through PayPal
include weather forecasts
add a 'News' section to let the owner easily run offers etc.. all set using start and finish dates to automate the process

Primary Market Considerations

The primary market for the property is French. As such it was vital that the site was truly

multilingual. That meant that although the default language would be English, if someone whose computer's default language was French visited the site, then they would automatically be directed to the French version. No longer would they have to 'click on a French flag' to see the French content, it would simply appear automatically. This feature has reduced the number of visitors who previously left immediately after being presented with an English language home page.

Easy editing...

Of old to edit a web site meant either asking your web designer to do it, or digging around in the code whilst praying that you didn't do something which you shouldn't! A Content Management System (CMS) takes that headache away. Here we implemented an easy to use, yet extensible CMS which the owner can update from anywhere with a computer.

Even adding new pages is a breeze and very quick. Really....no technical skill required.

Features

To help make the site as informative and useful as possible for prospective customers a variety of elements were incorporated. People can see todays weather forecast, view the latest availability in an intuitive calendar format as well as see the latest 'news' updates from the owners....special offers, events etc... All of which are indended to entice prospective customers.

Finally, there's a spam blocking enquiry form which gathers all the information required and a payment process was set up using PayPal.

And of course all of this was done whilst adhering to the latest web standards as far as possible. This means that the site will be:

more easily 'read' by search engines such as Google,
be more accessible to those with disabilities which affects their web usage, and
set up to be more easily redesigned in the future.
